Tech Sends Eight To Short Course Worlds – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – Georgia Tech Official Athletic Site

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming is sending eight current and future Jackets to the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The event starts on Dec. 16 and runs through Dec. 21.
Tech will be represented by Batur Ünlü (Turkey), Berke Saka (Turkey), Caio Pumputis (Brazil), Defne Taçyildiz (Turkey), Imane El Barodi (Morocco), Mert Kilavuz (Turkey) and Zora Ripkova (Slovakia). One future Yellow Jacket will be at the event in Deniz Ertan (Turkey).
The swimmers will be competing in the following events:
Relay teams will be decided at the event.
Ünlü currently holds the Turkish short course records in the 200 free and 400 free while Kilavuz is the Turkish short course record holder in the 800 free. Pumputis holds the Brazilian short course record in the 100 IM.
The Short Course Worlds is one of the premier swimming events on the calendar. It is held in years when FINA does not hold its main world championships.
