One of the largest online learning platforms in the world, Coursera, recently announced its partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to launch two new certificate programs — Digital Transformation and Power Electronics and Motors for Electric Vehicles (EVs)
These programs will help learners gain technical, managerial, and leadership skills, including strategic decision-making, business operations, data management, and electric vehicle technology, improving learners’ overall employability, including young professionals, for high-demand jobs.
Learners will be able to enrol in both programs until November 19, 2021. Classes will begin on November 20, 2021.
The four-month-long program will comprise live lectures and help develop the skills needed to lead new initiatives successfully. Digital Transformation Certification is designed for non-IT managers leading digital transformation initiatives and teaches how to identify opportunities to transform the organization through strategic implementation of new technologies and builds analytical skills to understand how to implement and execute the right solutions. It also examines challenges associated with scalability and the decision to build or buy a new technology stack. The program will be taught by Prof. Rajendra Sonar of the Shailesh J Mehta School of Management at IIT Bombay. Senior industry leader Suhrid Brahma will be the visiting faculty for the program.
Power Electronics and Motors for Electric Vehicles (EVs) helps build essential skills for advancing careers in the field of electric vehicles (EVs). Learners will gain insight into the design and development of new solutions optimized for India’s transportation future. The program covers courses in Motor Design, Power Converter Design and Motor Drives. This program will be taught by Dr BG Fernandes, Dr Kishore Chatterjee and Dr Sandeep Anand, all from the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay.
“As per IEA’s Global EV Outlook report, EV sales share across all modes in India will grow to 30% by 2030 in the Stated Policies Scenario, corroborating governments’ vision to make India the world’s largest EV manufacturing and supplying hub. The certificate program on Coursera will impart the necessary skills to learners willing to build a career in this in-demand field. The Digital Transformation program will help build all-round leaders who can respond to the rapidly changing global business outlook,” said Prof. Siddhartha Ghosh, Professor-in-Charge, Continuing Education Programme, IIT Bombay.
Raghav Gupta, MD India and APAC, Coursera, said, “IIT Bombay is India’s top-ranked university and a known leader in the field of engineering education and research. It is also one among the institutions selected by an empowered committee to be recognized by the Government of India as an Institution of Eminence. Every year, millions of students aspire to learn from this prestigious institute. We are delighted to partner with IITB to launch industry-aligned certificates, helping our global pool of learners build job-relevant skills and connecting Indian learners to the institution they know and trust most”.
With this partnership, IIT Bombay joins the ranks of more than 170 top universities — including Yale, University of Michigan, Stanford, Imperial College of London, IIT Roorkee, IIM Calcutta, Indian School of Business, Indian Statistical Institute, among others — that offer programs on Coursera. Coursera’s 87M+ learners across 190 countries will now be able to access IIT Bombay’s highly sought-after and job-relevant programs.
Machine Learning and Foundations: Data, Data, Everywhere are the top two popular courses to upskill in the demanding ecosystem
The new joiners will be working in some cutting-edge technologies, which are in great demand and are futuristic, like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning, networks, and image processing. Samsung India has three R&D centres in the country in Bengaluru, Noida, and Delhi.
CRUBN was incubated at IIT Kanpur for Phase-III of the National Blockchain Project, funded by the National Security Council Secretariat and envisioned to build e-governance solutions using blockchain technology.
The two hubs are committed to developing advanced technologies in the field of medical robotics/cobotics, digital health, sensing and computing technologies desired in robotic-assisted surgeries, training, and medical procedures.
The hub will have three major characteristics — interconnected and intelligent devices, self-learning and self-healing human and machine workflows, and autonomous decision-making with edge computing.
M. Tech in MINDS will be a flagship programme for the institute and is expected to begin in July 2022. The programme is industry-sponsored and will provide industry-relevant skills to the students.
