LOWELL — Pridestar EMS is pleased to offer initial EMT training courses starting early next year for anyone interested in a rewarding career as an EMT just as demand for more EMTs reaches unprecedented levels.
Meanwhile, Pridestar also is offering Emergency First Responder training for those who are interested in emergency medical work but not yet ready to commit to a full EMT training course.
“A career as an EMT is challenging, but I speak from personal experience when I say that it is just as rewarding as well, and we need EMTs more than ever today,” said Pridestar EMS founder and CEO David Daly. “I encourage anyone who wants to help others to consider a career as an EMT or EFR, and to take advantage of these great training opportunities.”
The training courses meet the requirements for both state and national EMT certification upon successful completion, as well as the state-sponsored written and practical EMT certification exams.
The daytime EMT training course begins on Tuesday, Jan. 4, with classes scheduled each Tuesday and Thursday afterward from 9 a.m. to noon at Pridestar EMS’ offices at 229 Stedman St., Lowell.
The course also includes six classes on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday classes are tentatively scheduled for Jan. 22, Feb. 26, March 19, April 23, May 14, and May 21. This course will conclude on May 26. To apply for the day course, click here.
The evening EMT training course begins on Thursday, Jan. 27, with classes scheduled each Tuesday and Thursday afterward from 6-10 p.m. via Google Classroom. The course also includes eight in-person classes on Saturdays at Pridestar EMS’ offices at 229 Stedman St., Lowell.
Saturday classes are tentatively scheduled for Feb. 19, Feb. 26, March 12, April 2, April 16, April 23, April 30, and May 7. To apply for the evening course, click here.
The courses cost $1,500 per person, with an initial $500 deposit required to reserve a seat in the program. Attendance of every class is required by the Office of Emergency Medical Services.
Potential applicants with a criminal conviction history might not be eligible, and should review the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Criminal Conviction Policy before applying.
For more information on the courses, contact Director of Clinical Services, Training and Education David Green at 978-349-3206 or [email protected].
For those considering a career as an EMT who are not yet ready to commit to a full training course, Pridestar also is pleased to offer an Emergency First Responder training course, which covers the basics of emergency medical response.
Emergency First Responders receive a level of training that is between basic first aid courses and full EMT certification. Emergency First Responders can seek work driving ambulances and other medical vehicles while certified EMTs work on those same vehicles caring for patients.
EFR training includes advanced first aid, CPR training, and training to use automated external defibrillators among other things, and provides a great starting point for those considering full EMT certification.
Emergency First Responder training is a six-day course with 48 hours of instruction, followed by rides on an ambulance with experienced EMTs.
The EFR training course begins on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 9 a.m., and continues at 9 a.m. on Jan. 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21 at Pridestar EMS’ offices at 229 Stedman St., Lowell. The course is free. To learn more or to apply to take the course, click here.
