The trails are calling! Cross Country Ski Headquarters in Higgins Lake is hosting free beginner ski lessons.
Ski lessons are every Saturday and limited to the first 25 people who register the same day.
They cover all the basics of cross country skiing, including how to go up hill and how to stop when you’re going downhill.
The owner of Cross Country Ski Headquarters, Mariah Frye, hopes to turn beginners into lifelong skiers.
“We view ourselves as the gateway to cross country skiing in Michigan, so we are very focused towards beginners — people who have never skied before because we have this facility to enable people to have a really good time,” said Frye.
Frye says it’s really important to learn the basics of skiing, “A lot of people who try cross country skiing without any instruction fall down and don’t know how to get up, and it kind of ruins the experience for some people.”
