Chattanooga, TN (WDEF): Pedaling for Parkinson’s has come to the Chattanooga area. This program is designed to use forced exercise to slow the progression in Parkinson’s patients. It involves a one hour session of riding spin bikes and exercises to build on motor skills.
If riding a bike isn’t your thing, they offer boxing or tango classes as well. Led by experienced trainers, the classes are for men and women of all ages with Parkinson’s Disease.
“We do all sorts of fun stuff in here. Where maybe they might be pedaling with one foot at a time, practicing standing up on the bike, work on their balance, just general coordination with riding a bike,” says Kristen Schillaci, Affiliate Owner of Rock Steady Boxing Chattanooga and Program Director of Pedaling for Parkinson’s.
The Pedaling for Parkinson’s class is free of charge. You must have a signed physician’s release to participate.
For information on how to join a class, visit HERE or call (770) 490-8191.
