IIT Guwahati is offering a free online course on artificial intelligence on the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning
IIT Guwahati is accepting applications for a free online course on artificial intelligence that can be taken up by students and interested professionals. The course, called fundamentals of artificial intelligence, can be completed in 12 weeks. The course has been designed to develop a basic understanding of problem solving, knowledge representation, reasoning and learning methods of artificial intelligence. Students who complete the course will also be rewarded 3 credit points.
The course will be conducted by Shyamanta M Hazarika who is a professor of mechanical engineering at IIT Guwahati and leads the Biomimetic Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab. His research interests include rehabilitation robotics. This translates into interest in artificial intelligence, biomimetic robotics and robotic neurorehabilitation. The professor holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati, India, MTech in Robotics from Center for Robotics, IIT Kanpur, India. He has also completed his PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Leeds, England.
The course would be suitable for candidates pursuing their final year BTech, MTech, and PhD who have basic knowledge in probability and linear algebra. Some of the categories that the course would be most relevant for would be:
The objective of the free online course on artificial intelligence is to present an overview of the principles and practices of AI to address complex real-world problems. Some of the topics that will be covered are as follows:
The course will be available on the NPTEL platform from 25 July to 14 October 2022, and the last date to enrol for the course would be 1 August 2022. Interested participants will have to enrol on the platform by using their Facebook, Swayam, Microsoft, or Google accounts. Those who wish to obtain certificates with logos of NPTEL and IIT Guwahati will have to take an examination on 29 October 2022 by paying Rs 1000.
