Here are the honorees from 2020 and 2022
After a two-year pandemic hiatus, The Bayonne Chamber of Commerce will hold its 6th Annual Peninsula Gala on September 15 at The Chandelier.  This highly anticipated annual event is designed to recognize and honor local community leaders and businesses who have contributed greatly to the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce and to the Bayonne community.  This year’s event will not only recognize our 2022 honorees, but finally shine a light on our 2020 honorees, whose event was canceled due to the shutdown.  The honorees are as follows:
2020 Business Person of the Year – David DeMonaco, Triangle TV – Dave started working alongside his father, Bob DeMonaco at Triangle TV and Appliance at a very young age. Triangle TV is one of the oldest businesses in Bayonne today.  Triangle TV & Appliance started in 1940 and stands as a staple of this community. Today Dave and his son, Alex, run the operation together hand in hand just as Dave did with his dad.
2020 Business of the Year – Migliaccio Funeral Home –  Migliaccio Funeral Home was founded in 1919 by husband & wife Calabrian immigrants Ferdinand & Filomena Migliaccio.  After being passed along multiple generations, more than 100 years later, this Bayonne business continues to thrive and is still owned and operated by the family of Ferdinand and Filomena.  Today the business is now under the management of Kevin Stapleton, who along with his wife Hermineh and their director Michael A. Bruzzio Jr., continue the family’s time honored tradition.
2020 Dan Kane Legends Award – Al Pasiechnik  – Al is a lifelong Bayonne resident and is the owner of The Vic Tavern with Nady Ramos.   The Vic is known as a friendly corner bar and community spot for friends to meet, eat, drink and enjoy live music.  Al has also operated a number of businesses in the Bayonne community including Victoria T.V. and Appliance, a 60-year-old family-owned business appliance store.  He is an active member in the community, helping out various charities and organizations in Bayonne. Al was a founding partner of Bayonne Community Bank (BCB) in 2000 and currently serves as Vice President of Business Development.
2022 Business Person of the Year – Rose Kellner, Allstate Insurance Bayonne has been home to R Kellner Agency since 2012. As agents, Rose and her husband Bob work hard to make a positive impact in town. They sponsor youth sports through Bayonne Youth Soccer, Bayonne PAL, Little League and Cal Ripken. Rose is a long-time member of the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce, and has served on the boards of Head Start, the Bayonne Rotary Club, BEOF and PAL. Community organizations know they can count on the Kellner family for support. They conduct food, diaper and back to school drives and are always stunned by the generosity of their customers.
2022 Business of the Year – Café Bello –  Since opening in 1991 Café Bello has always maintained quality and consistency in their menu and customer service. The team, and original partners of Café Bello, Philip Trebour, Vincent Sita, Richard Anthony Demarchi and Tom Pelliccio thank the entire community (residents, business leaders and our local government leaders alike) for all of the years of support. This team truly cares about the patrons that walk through the doors at Café Bello.  They are dedicated to the community; supporting as many initiatives that help Bayonne stand together and grow as one.
2022 Dan Kane Legends Award – Sweeney Funeral Home – The Sweeney family has been dedicated to providing service and comfort to families since the early 1900’s.  After arriving from Ireland, John Sweeney started a horse drawn funeral livery business located in Bayonne on West 12th street. He expanded this business to include his two sons John and James (Jim) Sweeney, who became licensed funeral directors. The funeral home moved to its current location at 857 Kennedy boulevard in 1947.  Today Margaret J. Sweeney owns and runs this 4th generation family business. Her strong community roots and legacy for helping families at their most difficult time, ensures that every concern will be dealt with in the most compassionate way.
2022 Chamber Hall of Fame Award – Annette Rubin –  Annette has been involved with the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce for many years, a natural transition from becoming the owner of EXIT On The Hudson Realty 17 years ago. She has remained committed to serving the organization ever since. She has served on the Board of Directors and is a past Vice President.  Her real estate career is impressive, having achieved consistent certification in New Jersey Association of Realtors’ Circle of Excellence, NJAR Distinguished Sales Award, and the New Jersey Magazine’s Five Star Professional award. Her agency was named top office in the EXIT of New Jersey franchise region for 10 years straight, an unprecedented and unsurpassed accomplishment to date.  Annette was happily married to the late Marc Rubin, former owner of Gibraltar Electric Co. She has four sons, three daughters-in-law, and four beautiful grandchildren.
