Google Philippines will be awarding career certificate scholarships to 39,000 Filipinos in the coming months. The Google Career Certificate program is in partnership with telecommunications company Globe Telecom, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
“Without relevant skills, Filipinos will not have a pathway to the fast-growing industries like those in the tech sector,” said Bernadette Nacario, country director of Google Philippines. “At Google, we are committed to helping countries, like the Philippines, unlock the opportunities of the growing digital economy.”
Nacario emphasized that part of Google’s strategy to deliver on this goal is the launch Google Career Certificates scholarships intended for students and job-seekers.

These job-ready skills can make them more employable in in-demand areas such as IT support, project management, UX design, and data analytics, which are also the available courses offered in the scholarship program.
The newly launched program is part of Grow with Google initiative that provides a suite of flexible online training programs available on Coursera. The one-year free subscription through Coursera enables learners to enroll in one or in all four courses. Each course can run from six months to one year, depending on the pace of the learner.
“The certificates are built and taught within Google and the flexibility allows learners, from all backgrounds, to learn digital skills at their own pace,” said Gabby Roxas, country marketing manager, Google Philippines and South Asia Frontier Markets.
Eligible to apply for the scholarship are Filipinos 18 years and above.
