A FREE gardening course is being launched in Keighley.
Green Spaces is a joint initiative between Keighley-based social enterprise Get Out More and Craven College.
Sessions will be held weekly from next Thursday (October 13) until January 19, at Hainworth Wood Community Centre, between 10.30am and 2pm.
The opening weeks will provide an introduction to the course, which will ultimately lead to a Level 1 Horticulture City & Guilds qualification.
Attendance is free to anyone aged 19-plus who is unemployed and on means-tested benefits, or employed but earning under £19,305 a year.
The Green Spaces programme is funded by BUPA.
Get Out More managing director, Annie Berrington, says: “This is a great opportunity to learn about the world of horticulture – whether it’s to improve your knowledge for use at home, or to kickstart a career in the industry.
“You’ll have the chance to learn skills including sowing seeds, planting and soil and ground preparation, plus there are additional optional units that may help you progress to further qualifications.”
Ten places are available, which will be allocated on a first come-first served basis.
Enrolment is next Thursday and on October 20.
To apply, visit getoutmorecic.co.uk, call 01535 668588 or email [email protected].
