Scoring a new job at a dream company often involves picking up new skills that’ll make you stand out from the large pool of applicants. However, it can sometimes be tough to know where to start, or which skills are actually worth investing time in learning.
To help gain some insight into what to focus on, LinkedIn just released the top five trending skills based on LinkedIn Learning data from LinkedIn’s top 50 companies. The brands surveyed — which LinkedIn ranks the highest in terms of career growth opportunities — include Amazon, JPMorgan Chase & Co., AT&T, Bank of America, IBM, Apple, and more. 
Additionally, LinkedIn made some of its LinkedIn Learning courses to learn these skills completely free through May 31. That means that you can earn a certificate of completion to add to your LinkedIn profile so long as you’re signed into LinkedIn and finish the courses before the end of May.
Seeing as Amazon is listed as LinkedIn’s #1 company for career growth, it makes sense that knowing the design and delivery of AWS, its cloud computing services, would give you a competitive edge.
Jira is a popular project tracking software used for managing deliverables on teams, from assignment planning to monitoring team progress.
Python is one of the most popular and powerful programming languages out there, used in everything from data science to software development to machine learning.
Machine learning is a rapidly growing field, using big data to solve complex problems and improve everything from speech recognition service to self-driving cars.
Scrum is a system of managing complex processes that’s prevalent in the growing project management field. There’s even a Scrum Master exam you can take to receive certification and use to advance in your project manager career.
