If you are good at writing, then the field has endless opportunities. While content writers have always been in demand, with the advent of the internet, the demand for excellent writers has increased manifold.
Interestingly, you do not necessarily need any particular academic qualification to become a good writer. In fact, several well-known writers had no literary background. Anyone with a good command over language and a flair for writing can attract good companies. Specialised creative writers can work in various industries ranging from marketing and PR to advertising and web content managing.

While no certification is not required to enter this field, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in literature (of a particular language) or mass communication is always a plus in content writing. A few institutions in India do offer short-term courses in creative writing. The least educational qualification needed for applying to a creative writing course is Higher Secondary or 10+2 in any discipline. The duration of these courses is mainly for one year. Most universities offer courses in creative writing as optional subjects in addition to bachelors and masters degrees. Apart from these, there are several creative writing courses available on online educational platforms like Udemy, Coursera and edX.
