Alberta Health Services is offering an array of classes over the coming weeks and months focusing on keeping people of all ages healthy.
Staying Strong and Healthy as We Age
This free session will guide participants through a variety of topics, including nutrition, staying active, and different social activities that can help them stay healthy as they age. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to move throughout the workshop, and use space with room to move, if possible.
When: March 2 and 14, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Heart Wise: Heart Wise: Managing Cholesterol and Blood Pressure
This program is for any local residents looking to manage their cholesterol and blood pressure are invited to an upcoming information online session to better understand their heart health. Heart Wise: Managing Cholesterol and Blood Pressure is a free, four-part group session offered by Alberta Health Services (AHS). Nutrition and Food Services professionals will share their expertise and guide interactive discussions that can help individuals manage their heart health.
When: March 2, 9, 16 and 23 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and March 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Managing Emotional Eating
Managing Emotional Eating is a free, three-part workshop led by AHS health professionals who share their expertise and guide interactive group sessions. Participants will learn how eating habits are formed, and how triggers such as emotions, situations and events can be managed to help develop better eating habits that will last a lifetime. This program is for 18 years and up.
When: March 1, 8 and 15 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and March 15, 22 and 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

How to Manage Stress
Albertans looking for ways to identify and manage stress are invited to participate in a free online workshop facilitated by Alberta Health Services (AHS). The workshops for managing stress in challenging times comes in two parts, both led by AHS professionals.
When
Part 1 of the interactive workshop includes a basic discussion of stress and looks at different ways to manage stress. Participants will come away with an understanding of the impact of emotions on the body plus an action plan to address their stress.
Part 2 involves discussing perception, decision-making and communication using techniques taught in Part 1. (Completion of Part 1 is essential prior to taking Part 2.)
