The Baltimore Ravens are in the beginning stages of a pivotal offseason for their franchise. They have to keep up with the rest of the NFL by improving their roster and capitalizing on the last year before quarterback Lamar Jackson’s rookie deal is up.
When listing out one 2022 free agent that each NFL team should prioritize this offseason, Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports believes that Baltimore should look to New York Jets safety Marcus Maye. He explained that Maye could be the true ballhawking player that the Ravens need in on the back end of their defense.
“It’s no secret that Marcus Maye wants out of New York, and this offseason it could happen. Baltimore needs help in the secondary at cornerback and safety, and signing a true ballhawk like Maye at free safety would immediately improve this defense.”
Maye has accumulated 312 total tackles and three interceptions over the course of his five-year NFL career. He is a versatile piece that can do multiple things well, and would be a very interesting chess piece for Mike Macdonald to use in his defense. Baltimore will probably look to bring in safety help of some kind during the 2022 offseason, and Maye is a name to keep an eye on.
