Learn best practices for crime prevention and crisis intervention through free virtual courses offered this winter by the College of DuPage Police Department.
Classes are presented via Zoom. Registration is required.
• “Save Your Stash” will be presented from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28.
Learn to mitigate fraud victimization by enhancing awareness related to current fraud schemes.
• “Making Prevention a Reality” will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25.
Awareness is the key to preventing violence and we all play a role. Participants will explore pre-incident behaviors through case studies, videos and knowledge assessment, explore resources for reporting pre-incident behaviors, and fine-tune their situational awareness.
• “Crisis Intervention” will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, March 18.
Learn tips to identify someone in crisis. The session also provides action steps to take when encountering someone in a crisis in a variety of settings. Information covered in this session will help you both in work and in life. In this session, you will: discover the different types of crisis; explore strategies to speak to someone in crisis; and participate in scenario-based exercises.
“Arming yourself with information is a key step to successfully navigating a crisis,” said COD Police Chief Joe Mullin. “The College of DuPage Police Department is proud to offer these resources, providing participants valuable information they can apply to many different situations.”
