The founder and the director of the Zenusa Computer Training Centre, Zintle Zembe, from Ngqeleni, is giving back to her home town by coming up with an initiative to fight poverty.
Zembe developed community members from the localities which fall under Ngqeleni, by offering free training courses. Those who benefited from this initiative were those who were coming from a poor background.
She said was born and bred in Mzonyane location in Ngqeleni. Then she left to start her senior secondary school in Mthatha. She confirmed that she had another branch in Mthatha, but decided to open the second one in Ngqeleni, last year.
“I thought my services were needed a lot in this area because most of the people here are unemployed.
“When I started my business last year, the trainees used to pay, but this year I decided to assist those who are coming from less fortunate families who were unable to pay for the courses.
“I then asked South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) member, Vusi Yase, to look for two people in each community who are under this town, who are struggling. I specified that it must be those who are coming from the poor familis, who cannot afford to pay for these services. I taught them computer skills; then I taught others cashier courses,” said Zembe.
She added that she noticed that life is changing and most jobs require an understanding of technology.
One of the beneficiaries, Nomboniso Lungwengwe (49), said she had done a cashier course.
“I was very happy because I never thought that one day I would have a certificate because I did not have money to do it. Now I am able to look for a job so that I can look after my family,” said Lungwengwe.
