This program has been made available via a three-year project funded by Office of Naval Research (ONR) to develop, support and sustain a consortium of Innovation Driven Research/Education Ecosystem in Advanced Manufacturing for the Defense (I-DREAM4D) industry. The consortium is composed of five higher education institutions (UTRGV, UT Austin, UTSA, Virginia Tech, and Virginia State University), national research centers, national labs, defense manufacturers, and local community colleges. The goal is to promote advanced and smart manufacturing and to support innovations with applications in defense industries. The long-term vision of the consortium is to cultivate an innovation-driven manufacturing education ecosystem with programs to recruit and educate young talents who contribute to U.S. defense manufacturing.
