Purdue University Northwest is offering a free training opportunity to all active duty and Reserve Component military members and veterans, along with first responders – law enforcement, fire and EMT – that are interested in learning about AI-cybersecurity. The goal for students can be to transition into a cyber career or just to increase their cybersecurity skills. The NSA has funded this course out to at least 2023. With limited funding, applying sooner would be better than waiting until later.
From system administration to digital forensics, one of the three training paths will most likely fit your cybersecurity training goal. The program offers participants the opportunity to earn three Industry and Government recognized certifications as well as gain pathways to pursue degree programs at participating institutions.
Each training path consists of college level courses presented online and asynchronous as it includes time-specific virtual live lectures. Each training path spans a 10-week period.
The three paths in the new training program are:
The purpose of the first path is to develop the student’s skills and abilities to apply artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-learning to analyze cyber systems for security issues in both software and hardware components.
This track offers six courses that cover the fundamentals of computer systems, networks and cybersecurity, as well as topics in fundamentals of AI, IoT and hardware security.
The second path is also a six-course track that develops the student’s skills and abilities on the management and administration of critical infrastructures and includes analyzing and evaluating cyber security vulnerability and threats.
In it are covered the fundamentals of computer systems, networks and cybersecurity, as well as advanced topics in cyber infrastructure development and security protection.
The third and final path focuses on developing the student’s skills and abilities to conduct deep-dive investigations into cybercrimes and security incidents, recover and analyze artifacts of security incidents.
Like the other two paths, it too is a six-course track that covers the fundamentals of computer systems, networks and cybersecurity, as well as advanced topics in cyber forensics investigation.
Registration requires proof of citizenship or resident status, education records and/or military/first responder service history.
This is a great opportunity for military members, veterans, and first responders interested in learning about cybersecurity – whether the end goal is to enter directly into the cybersecurity field or to use as a springboard to more advanced degree-producing training.
