TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Regional School District is offering free, in-person music lessons this summer for the district’s students who play instruments or sing.
There are lessons for students who play string instruments and for those who play other band instruments. The 30-minute lessons will be offered weekly in July at various locations across town, the district said.
For students who play woodwinds, brass or percussion instruments, the deadline to register is Friday. Students can be registered through this link. Woodwinds, brass and percussion lessons will be held weekly from July 5 through July 29 and are open to students who will be 5th through 8th graders in the fall.
Students who play string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass) can sign up through this form. String instrument lessons are available for 4th graders through high school seniors and registration is being accepted through June 29.
Students interested in voice lessons can sign up through this form. Those lessons also are available for 4th graders through high school seniors and registration is accepted through June 29.
The lessons will be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; your summer lesson teacher will email you with the time and location of your lesson by July 1.
Participating students will need their instruments and their music lesson books from school. Students who need an instrument should speak to the music teacher at their school or contact Greg Warren, the district’s orchestra teacher, by email at [email protected].
These lessons are noncommittal, so students may attend as many as they would like. Make-ups will be scheduled upon request.
