What comes to your mind when you think about Ukrainian culture? Traditional clothes? A few artists or writers? But these are only a shadow of what Ukrainian culture represents.
In 10 video lectures, you will learn about the values of Ukrainian society; about art during the war; about how different ethnic and national groups shaped the Ukrainian cultural space and even about how the traumatic experience of the 20th century affected the food culture of Ukrainians.
In addition to the video lectures, the course provides learners with sources – literature, texts, video links, and online resources that touch upon a range of issues of Ukrainian culture. Each of these will give you a balanced and nuanced knowledge of Ukrainian culture, identities, and society. You will understand the peculiarity of Ukrainian society and under what historical conditions Ukrainian culture was formed.
The course will be useful for those who teach disciplines related to Ukraine, particularly the Ukrainian language, or who wish to present Ukrainian culture to the world.
Scientists participated in the development of video lectures: Prof Dr Volodymyr Masliychuk (NaUKMA), Dr Olena Braichenko (Food Culture), writer and presenter Olena Huseinova (UA, Radio Kultura), Tetiana Filevska (Creative Director of UI), Prof Dr Vakhtang Kebuladze (NaUKMA), Dr Olha Dubchak (Vikhola publishing house), Dr Oleksandra Gaidai (UI), Dr Ihor Lylo (Institute of Galician Cuisine), Dr Oksana Kis, Dr Svitlana Biedarieva (Ph.D. in art history).
