IIT Guwahati Invites Applications for 12-week Free Online Course on Artificial Intelligence – DATAQUEST

IIT Guwahati has offered a free online course on the fundamentals of artificial intelligence for students and professionals on the NPTEL platform. The course, meant for final year BTech, MTech, and PhD students, requires participants to have taken a basic course in probability and linear algebra. The course has been designed to develop a basic understanding of problem-solving, knowledge representation, reasoning, and learning methods of artificial intelligence.
The free online course, which will take 12 weeks to complete, will be conducted from 26 July to 15 October 2021 by professor Shyamanta M Hazarika who works at the mechanical engineering department at IIT Guwahati and leads the Biomimetic Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab. The professor holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati, India, MTech in Robotics from Center for Robotics, IIT Kanpur, India. He has also completed his PhD in Artificial Intelligence (Knowledge Representation and Reasoning) from the School of Computing, University of Leeds, England.
The objective of the free online course on artificial intelligence is to present an overview of the principles and practices of AI to address complex real-world problems. Some of the topics that will be covered are as follows:
Interested students and professionals will have to enroll on the official page by using their Facebook, Swayam, Microsoft, or Google accounts. Those who wish to obtain certificates with logos of NPTEL and IIT Guwahati will have to take an examination on 23 October 2021 by paying Rs 1000. The final score to distribute certificates will be based on average assignment score and exam score.
