ISRO through its Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) outreach program has invited applications from students and professionals for two new online courses. The organisation has notified that the course titled Geospatial Modelling for Watershed Management will be conducted from 2 to 6 August 2021, and the course called Geospatial Technology for Hydrological Modelling will be conducted from 19 to 30 July 2021.
Applicants need to not that these courses are only open to candidates with minimum qualification of graduation in science and technology, and professionals working in related domains. Participants who mark 70 percent attendance for the courses will receive ISRO certificate. Participants can attend the class through the e-class portal or YouTube, and the content of the online course will be available offline after 24 hours on the e-class portal.
While the course on Geospatial Technology for Hydrological Modelling can be opted for by professionals from the Central or Sate Government, Private Organizations or NGOs engaged in water resources management and planning, regional and national water resources projects, students and researchers aligned to research in water resources, the course on Geospatial Modelling for Watershed Management can be taken up by the following participants:
Students and professionals who attend this course will get to attend detailed lectures on overview and sources of various satellite based hydrological parameters, integration of geospatial data in various hydrological models, practical applicability and basic knowledge of widely used hydrological models. Participants who are eligible to enroll for the ISRO free online course will have to do so on the official page of IIRS Edusat. Since there are a limited number of seats, applicants will be registered on a furst-come-first-serve basis. Interested students and professionals are advised to go through the course brochure for the course on Geospatial Modelling, and the course brochure for Geospatial Technology in detail prior to submitting applications.
