One Laredoan who wants to help change the food system in the United States has seen his product hit national levels.
Arturo Elizondo, the CEO of the EVERY Company based in California, has now finally made his biggest company creation — a created protein that does not come from animals, eggs or protein shakes — part of a pressed juice that is sold around the U.S. The protein is tasteless and can be consumed by individuals in any products they want.
For Elizondo, this was a project seven years in the making. He started his company with limited money and a dream to change the way people consume proteins.
“I feel thrilled that we can reimagine what protein in the 21st century can look and taste like,” Elizondo said. “I feel deeply grateful for the incredible team at EVERY who made this possible and the team at Pulp Culture for daring to make something that only lived in people’s imagination possible.”
Elizondo said the spectacle of the product comes from the fact that it is a major type of food element that many people like to consume, but in this way, they can do without any need to affect their sugar and fat while ingestion something natural.
“The question we asked was ‘What if you could have your protein in your favorite products? Protein in products that blow people’s minds?’” Elizondo said. “This product proves people can now consume protein in EVERY way their heart desires. And it’s zero sugar, zero fat and made with naturally fermented juice.”
The product is also novel in the sense that it is also the first time that a hard-pressed juice has featured protein
“This is the first time a hard-pressed juice has ever been able to have protein,” Elizondo said. “Protein can now be delivered in all the form factors you know and love.”
Elizondo said the products are “full spectrum,” have adaptogens and have protein and 4.9% alcohol.
Although Elizondo is celebrating the success of his company’s product, he states that not everything has been easy. This is because the company has faced several challenges where they needed to improve to get to where they are today.
One of these challenges was achieving such a high level of production. As the company has achieved this, Elizondo states that he is grateful for partners like AB InBev’s BioBrew who support their ability to scale nationally and globally.
Elizondo said the product became a reality after his company partnered with Los Angeles-based Pulp Culture to make the Full Spectrum beverage enhanced by beneficial probiotics, adaptogens, source-verified super fruits and superfoods, and animal-free EVERY Protein.
“The introduction of this world’s-first super beverage spotlights our groundbreaking, ‘nearly invisible’ EVERY Protein — introduced commercially in 2021 following seven years of deep R&D — bringing consumers a never-before-seen protein experience in beverages,” Elizondo said.
Overall, Elizondo applauds the unveiling of their product nationally, as he said it is the first step in major things he wants to accomplish in efforts to bring change to people’s food systems so they can be healthier while eating the things they need.
“My company, EVERY, exists to reimagine our food system,” Elizondo said. “To build a food system that is greener and kinder for everyone. This launch is one major step in accomplishing our mission.”
The cause to change this food item began years ago after they made “a moon-shot goal” to create nature-equivalent animal proteins without animals.
“We’ve done that with the launch of the world’s first animal-free pepsin and egg proteins — but we wanted to go further,” Elizondo said. “We wanted to fuel the creation of new kinds of foods and drinks the world has never seen and capture imaginations and taste buds along the way.”
The pressed juice is made of pineapple, which boosts protein absorption and is anti-inflammatory; coconut, which boosts metabolism and is an antioxidant; vanilla, which is anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant; Ashwagandha, which boosts muscle growth and strength; cordyceps, which boosts exercise performance; and Elizondo’s EVERY Protein.
Elizondo has previously been named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list, the 2019 Person of the Year by the National Hispanic Institute and one of 10 Latinos who inspire the United States by BBC World News. He holds a degree in government and comparative politics from Harvard University.
Elizondo said the product is now available nationwide online via pulpculture.la and retail will follow. The product is also being promoted through the social media hashtag #PulpXEVERY.
