Data privacy/Barbara Kelley“Cybersecurity remains our main priority.”
Those were the words of Kevin Johnson, chair of The Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on Technology, during its Fall Meeting October 18. The committee announced it’s working with LegalFuel: The Practice Resource Center of The Florida Bar to add a pair of free cybersecurity CLE courses that will help lawyers better manage their practices.
The first webinar, scheduled for October 27 at 12 p.m. EST, is geared toward Florida’s smaller law firms. Sponsored by LegalFuel and Dynamic Quest, Cybersecurity for Smaller Law Firms: Practical Advice for Protecting Your Firm, will give practical advice on how lawyers can protect their firms and their finances from online threats.
The webinar will be hosted by Solutions Architect Daniel Cohn at Dynamic Quest. Based out of North Carolina, Dynamic Quest stands as one of the state’s largest managed IT, cloud, and security services companies. Cohn will discuss the real cybersecurity threats that are out there and outline practical steps and technologies smaller firms should have in place.
The webinar is meant for owners, partners, and practice managers who may not be comfortable “talking tech” but need real-world information on policies, products, and solutions to keep their practice, their clients, and their staff safe. It awards 1.0 CLE credit including 1.0 in technology.
The second cybersecurity webinar will take place on November 17 at 12 p.m. EST and will serve as cybersecurity training for all lawyers and firms. Introduction to Cyber Security: Awareness & Prevention, sponsored by the Bar Board of Governors Technology Committee and LegalFuel will cover the minimum protective measures needed by lawyers and law firms.
The CLE course will provide answers to the following cybersecurity questions:
The webinar, which will count toward 1.5 CLE credits including 1.5 in technology, will be presented by a trio of experts including two Bar members, Franklin Zemel, a partner at Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr, and Steven Teppler, of counsel to Mandelbaum Barrett, who both specialize in cybersecurity and privacy practice. John Giantsidis will also serve as a presenter. He is president of CyberActa, a boutique consultancy empowering medical device, digital health, and pharmaceutical companies in their regulatory, cybersecurity, privacy, data, and commercialization endeavors.
Following the presentations, both webinars will be uploaded to the LegalFuel.com website where attorneys may view and earn CLE credit for at least the next 18 months.
