Lenovo has added a range of both new and updated ThinkPads to their mobile portfolio, including the world’s first laptop powered by the Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 and significant updates to their power-driven ThinkPad X1 Extreme. The bulk of the announcements is designed to address the growing needs of many different professional use cases, including processing power, high-end NVIDIA RTX GPUs, and portability.
The ThinkPad P14s Gen 3 and P16s Gen 1 are the company’s most mobile workstation offerings with enough performance to satisfy most professional needs. The new models feature the latest Intel Core processors and NVIDIA T550 professional graphics and are best suited for applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks.
The P14s and P16s also focus on reliability and durability with the ThinkShield security suite and MIL-SPEC testing. Compared to previous versions, they offer improved usability features including a wider touchpad, all-day battery capacity, an upgraded FHD webcam, blue light reduction, and X-Rite factory color calibration for true-to-life color accuracy.
ThinkPad P16s Gen 1 is a new addition to the P Series, combining power and portability with a thin and light 16-inch chassis. It is purpose-built with engineers, architects, and students in mind, and has a 16:10 aspect ratio display to create a larger screen space for viewing and creating. Both workstations will be available in black or an aluminum storm grey cover.
Lenovo has added a few updates to its ThinkPad T series portfolio focused on improving the productivity and collaboration needs of a wide-ranging workforce. Among the changes include a move to a 16:10 aspect ratio for its displays, as well as low blue light technology with FHD camera options, Dolby Audio speaker system, and Dolby Voice. Coupled with a more stable Wi-Fi 6E2 connectivity and enhanced WWAN choices, these enhancements are designed to improve the collaboration experience.
The Lenovo ThinkPad T series is available with either the latest 12th Gen Intel Core or the latest AMD Ryzen PRO 6000 Series processors.
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5 is the most performance-driven series of the bunch, as they are designed for those with demanding work needs and who enjoy high-definition media. The fifth-generation ups the ante with a range of big new enhancements, including the latest 12th Gen Intel Core i9 H-Series processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX laptop GPUs, up to 64GB DDR5 memory, and optional dual SSDs for a combined capacity of up to a hefty 8TB.
Here’s a complete rundown of the new ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5 features:
The ThinkPad X13s is the world’s first laptop powered by the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 compute platform, 5G, and 28 hours of battery life. The X13s is highlighted by its ultra-slim, ultra-light fan-less design and a multi-day battery life rated up to 28 hours. It also comes with AI accelerated experiences, enhanced 5G connectivity options (including mmWave), and application support through the Microsoft App Assure program.
The ThinkPad X13s was created with the environment in mind, as it is built with 90% certified recycled magnesium in the top and bottom covers, and 97% PCC plastic in the battery PCB cover and battery frame. It also features recyclable cartons and bumpers in the packaging and was manufactured using the company’s low-temperature solder method. Lenovo indicates that can reduce carbon emissions by up to 35%.
Further adding to its energy-efficient design, the X13s also has low-power 13.3-inch 16:10 display configurations with touch or Eyesafe low blue light options, which means lower AC power requirements to reduce energy consumption.
On-the-go professionals like field technicians and front-line workers will enjoy the light 1.06kg (2.35 pounds) build, while it’s Wi-Fi 6E6 provides a more stable high-speed connection. When this is unavailable, or if you don’t want to connect to an unsecured, public hotspot, the device can switch to 5G mmWave or sub6 Wireless WAN fast, highly secure connectivity.
In addition to the ThinkPad announcements, Lenovo also unveiled a range of other mobile solutions. Here’s a quick rundown:
