LINDENHURST, NY — Lindenhurst Union Free School District has a new coordinator of instructional technology and library media specialists.
The district announced Friday that Jennifer Freedman will serve in the position.
“My goal is to empower our students and faculty with resources and technology for exploration, creativity and innovation,” said Freedman. “We want to build life-long learners with critical thinking skills that carry throughout the years at Lindenhurst and beyond.”
She first joined the district as a middle school library media specialist and remote learning coach in December, 2013. Throughout her tenure with the district, she developed curriculum for library grades kindergarten through five as well as English Language Arts electives. Additionally, she would provide guidance to students and faculty in the use of technology integration into schoolwork and real-world usage.
Freedman participated in the planning and implementation of the district’s 1:1 Chromebook initiative. She also designed and developed professional development and parent university workshops with a focus on instructional technology.
She has obtained multiple professional certifications including school building and district leader, educational technology specialist, library media specialist and English Language Arts, 7-12. Additionally, Freedman has received numerous technology certifications such as ISTE Certified Educator, Google Certified Educator Level 2, Microsoft Innovative Educator, Nearpod Advanced Certified Educator among others.
Freedman resides in Wantagh with her husband Kevin and her two children. In her free time, she enjoys Mets baseball, reading and technology.
