Students and residents in Lubbock, Hockley and Hale Counties will have access to free financial literacy courses, thanks to a partnership between a local credit union and an online program, according to a news release.
Alliance Credit Union recently partnered with Banzai, an online program and content library that lets users practice real-world finance remotely in homes or classrooms. This partnership allows 14 area schools and their surrounding communities free access.
The program will show students how to manage a budget, save for a goal, tax basics, and handle unexpected financial pitfalls. Teachers can monitor and grade, plus the program offers coaching sessions and more.
“I am currently using it across three of my classrooms, and the students are enjoying the interactive ways to manage money,” said one Slaton High instructor, who was not named in the news release.
Alliance adds to the program with presentations and offers class visits to one of their local branches.
“Thanks to Alliance Credit Union, area students will now have access to a wide array of courses and resources designed to help prepare them for our increasingly complex world,” said Morgan Vandagriff, co-founder of Banzai. “We wouldn’t be able to provide these tools without their support.”
