This season, when a Nuggets player earns a double-double at home, fans score free crispy or spicy chicken nuggets (six piece) with any purchase the following day at Wendy’s. Mini-golf players can have a “tee-rific” time at Pixar Putt Denver. The 18-hole pop-up, mini-golf course at the Denver McGregor Square at Rally Hotel (1600 20th St.) in Denver features interactive holes inspired by Disney and Pixar’s most iconic films, including “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.,” “Finding Nemo,” “Coco,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Wall-E” and “Inside Out.” The game takes 90 minutes to two hours (for a group of four) to complete. Tickets are typically $31 to $33. However, enjoy a big discount on Tuesdays, when they are just $20. Start a new family holiday tradition by cutting a native Christmas tree from a forest just 30 minutes outside Denver. On Dec. 3, Golden Gate Canyon State Park will hold a Christmas Tree Cut. The park is offering 250 permits for cutting a Christmas tree in selected areas of the park. The permit cost is $35 per tree, with a limit of one permit per household. This year, permits will be issued via a lottery. The entry period is Nov. 1-15. Applications can only be submitted online. A random drawing will be held on Nov. 15 with “winners” being notified shortly thereafter. Then, on Dec. 3, permit-holders can visit the park between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to cut their tree. A valid park pass is required for each vehicle (an annual state parks pass or $10 daily pass), which can be purchased online or at the park’s self-service station. Trees must be cut with hand tools, such as a handsaw or axe. Chainsaws and power saws are strictly prohibited. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Assistance League of Denver Thrift Shop (6265 E. Evans Ave.), which hosts its Holidaze sale from Nov. 4 to Dec. 20. The store has been collecting merchandise all year for the popular annual event, including brand new and gently-used items. Museums are fun during the day. However, they have a whole different vibe at night. And Denver’s Night at the Museums sees more than a dozen open their doors for free on Nov. 5 from 5 to 10 p.m. As part of Denver Arts Week, each museum promises special entertainment and activities, including music, dance and storytelling. There’s even a complimentary shuttle to whisk visitors between venues. Participants include American Mountaineering Museum; Children’s Museum of Denver; Clyfford Still Museum; Denver Art Museum; Denver Botanic Gardens; Denver Police Museum; Denver Firefighters Museum; Denver Museum of Nature & Science; Denver Ridge; Forney Museum of Transportation; Four Mile Historic Park; History Colorado Center; Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art; Molly Brown House Museum; and Museo des las Americas. Veterans Day is about celebrating those Americans who are a cut above the rest. And Great Clips is trimming their grooming costs for the day. The pandemic changed everyone’s story, individually and collectively. And there are many stories to be told. Lakewood’s Benchmark Theatre (1560 Teller St.) will stage the world premiere of “The COVID Wife.” The play runs from Nov. 11 to Dec. 10. In October 2020, local actress Suzanne Nepi made national news when her husband, Mark, was hospitalized with serious complications due to COVID-19. Separated for three weeks with her husband hooked up to a ventilator, Nepi had to overcome her own history in order to find the strength to help her husband flight for his life. Christmas is the perfect time to get campy! This holiday season, Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park will be home to Camp Christmas. Not for the faint of festivity, the over-the-top outdoor extravaganza turns the holiday spirit all the way up with must-be-seen-to-be-believed displays of decorations that shift time and reality. Journey through artist Lonnie Hanzon’s fantastical wonderland of lights, dazzling decorations, music and memorabilia, as you explore mesmerizing yuletide scenes spread across a six-acre landscape. Fore! It’s the most wonderful time of year, when Adventure Golf and Raceway (9650 N. Sheridan Blvd.) in Westminster transforms the park into Holiday Lights Mini Golf. Visitors play miniature golf on three illuminated courses — a fantastical journey through 54 holes. There are more than 100,000 twinkling colorful lights and beautifully decorated features throughout, including Woody, the giant talking tree, an erupting volcano and a booming fireball from its very own temple god. Holiday treats and beverages will be available for purchase, including hot chocolate and adult spirits. The Castle Rock “Lighting of the Star” dates back to 1936. This year’s Starlighting takes place on Nov. 19 along Wilcox Square in Downtown Castle Rock. The free event features caroling, dancing, Santa Claus, hot chocolate, Kids Zone and more. Festivities around the square and nearby venues are from 2 to 6 p.m. The actual star lighting ceremony will begin at 5 p.m., with the star lit about 5:30, followed immediately by a huge fireworks display. Denver’s 2022 Christkindl Market once again takes place this year downtown in Civic Center from Nov. 18 to Dec. 23. The park is transformed into a magical “old world” European village with wooden vendor huts, lights, festive music and an authentic German Bier Hall. The Market features a variety of gifts, such as glass-blown ornaments, hand-carved wooden figurines, children’s toys, lanterns, Alpaca scarves and many culinary European delights.
