NMC further Extends Deadline for Online Filling of Information on MBBS Admission – Medical Dialogues

New Delhi : Further extending the deadline for online filling of information regarding MBBS 1st year admission, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has once again written to the heads of all the medical institutions in India for submitting the admission details.
The Apex medical education regulatory body has now extended the deadline until August 16, 2022.
NMC in its letter dated August 12, 2022 referred to its earlier directions and mentioned, “Kindly refer to letters of even no. dated 19th July, 2022 and 10th August, 2022 on the above subject requesting you to fill details of all students admitted in MBBS course during academic year 2021-22 into “UG Admission Monitoring Module” Students Entry System on NMC’s website.”
In this regard, the communication sent by the Director of the UGMEB, Shambhu Sharan Kumar stated, “Last date for filling up the details of all students admitted in MBBS course during academic year 2021-22 into “UG Admission Monitoring Module” is extended to Tuesday i.e., 16th August, 2022 (8.00 AM) positively.”
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in an attempt to ensure that all MBBS admissions have been made while adhering to the rules and regulations, the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the NMC on July 19 directed all the medical colleges/institutes to submit the details of the students who got admitted in the MBBS course during the academic year 2021-22.
Writing to the Principals of the medical colleges in the country, the NMC board had referred to the Online monitoring system that has been launched for this purpose.

Referring to this, NMC had directed the medical colleges to submit the requisite information through an online system that can be accessed through the Commission’s website [www.nmc.org.in].
“Through login ID, all the Medical colleges/ Institutions must submit their students’ admission details latest by 11:59 pm on 5th August, 2022 beyond which the Colleges/ Institutions will not be allowed to enter the details of the Students into “UG Admission Monitoring Module” Students Entry System for academic year 2021-22,” mentioned the NMC letter dated 19.07.2022.
“In case of any difficulty in accessing NMC website/ data entry, an email may be sent to [email protected] or contact at our toll free no. 1800 11 11 54 (from 09:30 AM to 06:00 PM) and the NMC office shall revert immediately to resolve the query/issue,” further read the letter.
“This initiative is made with the objective of ensuring faithful adherence to the norms of admission laid down in Regulations as also to further promote transparency and accountability in the medical education,” it added.
Although NMC had earlier fixed the deadline for this purpose as August 5, 2022, it has now extended the deadline until 12 noon on August 12, 2022 by re-opening the module.
Therefore, writing to the Principals and Deans of the Medical Colleges, NMC mentioned in its letter dated August 10, 2022, “In this regard, it has been decided to re-open the module for entry of MBBS admission details. All college authorities who are yet to submit the details are therefore requested to do so positively by 12 noon on Friday, 12th Aug, 2022. If any college fails to submit this information by this time, action on such colleges will be taken.”

“Kindly add the details of the Students according to the fields as mentioned above which will be available on the screen. No modifications will be allowed after the cutoff date i.e. 11:59 pm on 5 August, 2022,” NMC had earlier mentioned in the letter.
“The Colleges/ Institutions shall take a printout of the admission details entered through the software, get the printout signed and stamped by the Dean/ Principal of the Colleges/Institutions and send the printout to the Commission latest by 10 Aug, 2022 along with the fetter from DME/State Govt. fixing the ratio of Govt. and Management quota. The college should also ensure that the following details with regard to S. No. (1 to 22) mentioned below regarding the admitted students should be mandatorily available on the college website. The Council may ask other supportive documents like Caste certificate, 10 + 2 marksheet , details of Competetive entrance exam, as and when required by the Monitoring Cell. Students who have passed 10 + 2 from outside India, are required to submit equivalence certificate issued by Association of Indian Universities stating that the academic credentials are as per the Curriculum of Indian System,” it had further added.

NMC clarified that it was the responsibility of the medical colleges to furnish authentic information. In this regard, the letter mentioned, “The onus of furnishing true, correct and authentic information is on the College concerned. The Commission shall initiate action as is permissible in law, if it is notified that wrong/ incorrect information has been provided by the college authorities.”

While referring to the MBBS course for the academic year 2021-22, the letter mentioned that the admissions have been made in accordance with the provisions of the IMC Act, 1956 / NMC Act, 2019, and the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 05/07/2017 passed in WP (C) No. 76 of 2015 – DR. ASHISH RANJAN AND ORS VERSUS UNION OF INDIA AND ORS. “It is brought to your notice that in terms of aforesaid, the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) based selection process notified by way of amendment to the Graduate Medical Education Regulation, 1997 is applicable,” it said.
NMC in the letter has also specified the requirements that the medical colleges must follow while granting admission in the MBBS course. The Regulations on the basis of the judicial decisions and the MCI/NMC Regulations are as follows:
(i) No Admission is permissible beyond the sanctioned intake capacity.

(ii) Eligibility Criteria regarding age and Qualifying Marks for different categories as per Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997 and orders passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court/ Hon’ble High Court:
a. General Category: Must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks.
b. Persons with Disability (PwD): Must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks.
c. Reserved ISC/ST/OBC}: Must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 40% or above.
(iii) Must have qualified NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for admission in MBBS Course
(iv) All admissions have to be made through common counseling as prescribed in Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997:
Common Counseling
(1) There shall be a common counseling for admission to MBBS course in all Medical Educational Institutions on the basis of merit list of the National Eligibility Entrance Test.
(2) The Designated Authority for counseling for the 15% Al! India Quota seats of the contributing States and all MBBS seats of Medical Educational Institutions of the Central Government, Universities established by an Act of Parliament and the Deemed Universities shall be the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
(3) The counseling for admission to MBBS course in a State/ Union Territory, including Medical Educational Institutions established by the State Government, University established by an Act of State/ Union Territory Legislature, Trust Society, Minority Institutions, Municipal Bodies or a Company shall be conducted by the state/ Union Territory Government.
“The Medical Colleges are required to ensure that all admission in courses of medicine falling within the purview of the NMC Act, 2019 are strictly in accordance with merit and are made in a transparent and fair manner as envisaged in the referred Regulations. Any violation shall lead to discharge of such students from the MBBS programme and action against the concerned Medical College/institution as is permissible in law,” mentioned the letter.
