FOXBOROUGH — As the Odell Beckham Jr. rumors continue their slow burn across the NFL, some of the smoke has made its way to the Patriots locker room.
“Of course everybody’s talking about Odell,” Kendrick Bourne said. “If that’s what (the Patriots) want to do, and that’s the plan, then I’m here for the plan. I’m here for the long haul, so I don’t mind who we bring in as long as they’re here to contribute to what we’ve got going on. If it’ll help the team win, I don’t mind at all. So we’ll see what happens.”
On Wednesday night, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport named dropped the Patriots among five teams that have either made Beckham an offer or shown “significant interest” in the three-time Pro Bowler.
Bourne isn’t the first of New England’s players to comment on the Beckham rumors in a positive manner. Far from it. All three Patriots who spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon complimented the free agent wide receiver.
Mac Jones: “I think he’s a great player and he has a choice to make and that’s up to him. I think we have really good receivers here and anybody who wants to help us win is obviously a benefit to the team. I obviously will leave that up to Coach Belichick. You can ask him about it. But like I said, I know for a fact he always wants people that will come here and help us win.”
Nelson Agholor: “I think he’s an amazing player. I think he’s an absolutely special talent and I wish him the best. I love the receivers here and it’s not my position to worry about that, but I wish him well and I know that at the end of the day, whoever takes him, he’s going to do his job.”
Devin McCourty: “Really good player. I’ve played him a couple times. Have had a couple conversations with him, seems like a great guy. I’m guessing everyone will be looking at Twitter to see when he makes a decision.”
