PORTSMOUTH – Have you always wanted to play an instrument or take your skills to the next level? Do you have a child who loves to draw, paint, or create art, and want to help them explore their passion? This January you can explore your creative side — for free — thanks to a continuing community partnership between Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC) and Service Credit Union.
Free Music and Art Week, which takes place Jan. 24 to 28, offers a week of free music or art lessons to area children and adults either online, or in person at PMAC. A generous gift from Service Credit Union allows PMAC to make 100 free lessons available for anyone who wants to try something new, with no obligation. The weeklong event gives aspiring musicians and artists easier access to one-on-one 30-minute instruction from the top teaching artists on the Seacoast.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Service Credit Union for once again making this Free Music and Art Week possible. Parents are encouraged to sign up their children and adults are welcome to sign up; it’s a unique chance to take a free music or art lesson with no strings attached,” said PMAC Co-Founder and CEO, Russ Grazier. “This is an incredible gift from Service Credit Union and PMAC. An opportunity for anyone to explore their musical or artistic passion with one-on-one guidance from a professional musician or artist.”
Last year’s event was a huge success, and gave the community access to the arts and is something Service Credit Union leaders say they believe is crucial during these challenging times we find ourselves in.
“We’re so excited to once again be the presenting sponsor of this great program and help bring the joy of music and art to individuals of all ages, locally and beyond. The response to last year’s effort was fantastic to see, and we appreciate PMAC in being such an impactful partner to bring this to life,” said Jaime Yates, Manager, Community Relations at Service Credit Union.
Event organizers expect spaces to fill up fast and encourage those interested to sign up early to ensure they get one of the 100 spots. Sign-up begin Dec. 15. Visit www.pmaconline.org/fmaw to learn more and sign up.
