Rohit Sharma has a massive fan-following in India and all across the world. He is one of the best batsmen in white-ball cricket. The 34-year-old stalwart escalated his batting to the next level over the years.
He is the only cricketer to score three double centuries in ODIs and four centuries in T20Is. Rohit is popularly known as ‘hitman’. He is known for his ability to clear the sixes out of the park with such ease.
Rohit Sharma is the new T20I captain after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role. The veteran led the team from the front in the recently-concluded three-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Team India whitewashed the Black Caps by 3-0 in the shortest format of the game. As a result, Rohit’s full-time T20I captaincy career got off to a terrific start. Currently, Rohit is rested for the Test series.
The first Test between India and New Zealand ended in a thrilling draw. India could have easily won the Test opener as they took all the nine wickets. However, New Zealand played out for a draw in the nerve-wracking moments.
The second Test match is currently taking place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Virat Kohli is back to lead the team in the second and final Test. Team India won the toss and opted to bat first.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja claimed that he suggested a trick to get Rohit Sharma out in the T20 World Cup. India locked horns with Pakistan in their first game of the Super 12 stage.
Pakistan got the better of India by 10 wickets. On the other hand, India failed to take even a single wicket. During the game, Rohit Sharma got out on the very first ball. Shaheen Shah Afridi trapped him for an LBW.
Talking about the game and Rohit Sharma’s dismissal, in specific, Ramiz Raja said that he had a conversation with the Pakistan captain before the match started. The pep talk reaped rewards as Pakistan dismissed Rohit Sharma for a duck.
“Babar Azam was here with the Chief Selector before leaving for the World Cup and I asked him what are your plans against India?” Ramiz questioned. “I have plans and we employ Cricviz and they do the matchups,” Pakistan captain replied.
“I understand but India will also be using Cricviz and then they will have a ploy set up against you. So, that becomes nothing for us,” PCB chairman Ramiz Raja added in a statement. Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled really well in the game and trapped the big wicket of Rohit Sharma early on.
“I can tell you how to get rid of Rohit Sharma right now and Babar was intrigued. I said get Shaheen Afridi bowling at 100mph, get a man at short-leg and a 45. Just bowl that inswinging yorker at 100mph and do not give him a single and keep him on strike. You will get him out,” Ramiz Raja revealed.
