Polish dinner
Springfield – Immaculate Conception Church, 25 Parker St., in the Indian Orchard section will have a Polish dinner take-out only on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner consists of 2 sznycels (cutlets), mashed potatoes with gravy and soup. Outsmarting Antisemitism course
Longmeadow – This fall Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) and Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy (LYA) will offer a new four-session course from the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), titled “Outsmarting Antisemitism.” Using history, Talmudic sources, Jewish mysticism and contemporary expert analysis, the course addresses some of the questions we grapple with as individuals and as a community. The course will be offered on Zoom beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Upon registering for the course, you will receive the Zoom link. Rabbi Wolff will offer a live socially distanced class on Thursday at law offices of James Smith, 1331 Main St., Springfield for four consecutive Thursdays beginning Nov. 4 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Thursday’s class will also be offered on Zoom. Cost is $100 to attend. Like all JLI programs, it is designed to appeal to people at all levels of knowledge, including those without any prior experience or background in Jewish learning. All JLI courses are open to the public and attendees need not be affiliated with a particular synagogue, temple or other house of worship. Christmas collection craft fair
East Longmeadow – The First Congregational Church at the rotary in East Longmeadow will host its annual Christmas Collection Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be many juried crafters displaying their works both inside and outdoors. The fair will also feature themed gift baskets, Christmas raffle, bake sale, jewelry shop, a plant room, cemetery logs and a paperback sale. Lunch will be served. There will be free parking on-site and a free shuttle from off-site parking areas.
Fall festival
Holyoke – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St., will hold their fall festival on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parish hall. There will be something for everyone: gift basket raffles, vendors, plants, bake sale, farm stand and a lunch café. Free parking is located behind the church, and all are welcome. Catholic Women’s Club Communion supper
Agawam – The Catholic Women’s Club of Agawam will hold their annual Communion Supper on Monday, Nov. 8. The evening will begin at St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St. with a Mass in memory of deceased members beginning at 5:30 p.m. A catered supper will follow in the parish center behind the church. The meal will include salad, boneless stuffed chicken breast, baked scrod, vegetable, roasted potatoes, rolls, apple crisp, coffee/tea. The price is $22, and checks should be made out to The Catholic Women’s Club and sent to Jackie Toussaint, 2 Aspen Rise, East Granby, Conn. 06026 by Oct. 28. Msg. Chris Connelly will be the speaker for the evening. The club’s monthly meeting will conclude the evening any Catholic woman residing in Agawam/Feeding Hills or a member of a Catholic Church in town are welcome to join the club for the special evening. Church trip
Longmeadow – St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St., is celebrating their 90th anniversary this year and is sponsoring a bus trip to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas spectacular show, featuring the Rockettes on Saturday, Nov. 13. Cost is $186 per person and includes 7:30 a.m. departure/roundtrip bus from St. Mary’s, Longmeadow, best available ticket to the 5 p.m. show (90-minute performance), free time in NYC for lunch and sightseeing and driver gratuity. The bus will depart NYC immediately following the show and returning to Longmeadow approximately 9:30 p.m. In accordance to federal law all participants must be vaccinated, present their vaccine card and ID. Easthampton – The Baha’i Community of Western Mass./Southern Vt. invites everyone to its regular, online devotional programs as follows: weekly Sunday Devotions via Zoom at 11:30 a.m. each Sunday morning, hosted by local communities including Baha’i of Easthampton and others on an alternating basis.
