T20 WC 2022: Former Pakistani pacer Umar Gul has emphasized the value of promising pacer Shaheen Afridi to the team. To help Pakistan achieve their goal of winning the ICC T20 World Cup, he said that Afridi must be highly clinical. Later this year, the premier T20 competition is scheduled to take place in Australia.
The 22-year-old is currently not competing in the 2022 Asia Cup. He had previously hurt his knee during Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka. The 22-year-old has been sent to London, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). There, Shaheen is currently going through his recovery process.
Afridi was initially included in the Pakistani team for the Asia Cup and ODIs against the Netherlands. He was unable to participate in either of the series, though. Shaheen was replaced for the Asia Cup by Mohammad Hasnain.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) received harsh criticism as a result of his injuries. They were completely bashed for not making better use of him. The main complaint was that Shaheen ought to have received enough rest.

Gul warned the Pakistan team management to look after their fast bowlers. The veteran pacer announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in October 2020. Additionally, he expressed his hopes that Shaheen would be fit for the World Cup.
“Pakistan has very good fast bowlers. The bench is good, and the players need to be taken care of. Shaheen Shah Afridi will be very important for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, and he must be fit for the event,” Gul was quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
The 39-year-old made additional comments regarding Shaheen’s absence and Pakistan’s inability to handle it. He believes Pakistan have a potent bowling attack. However, he feels at the same time, it is not a complete deal without Shaheen.

Gul continued by saying that everyone feels Shaheen was suffering overload as he carried on playing. Gul believes Shaheen also did well, though. He thinks that Hasan Ali is not entering and exiting in the same manner as before. In the past, Hasan has consistently delivered excellent results.
Speaking of Gul, he is currently the Afghanistan team’s bowling coach. Meanwhile, Afghanistan was the first to earn a spot in the Super 4 round of the 2022 Asia Cup. Their bowling has been terrific throughout the competition, and Gul deserves a lot of praise for that.
The four teams for the Super 4 stage have also been decided courtesy of Pakistan’s resounding victory over Hong Kong on Friday. The teams competing for the title are India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see who wins the title this year.
