There are 10,500 places available for South Australians to take their place at TAFE SA.
The State Government has released the list of 110 free courses to be delivered by TAFE SA in 2023 through the interim National Skills Agreement signed last Friday – with each offering a career pathway into a high-demand industry.
Thousands of South Australian career seekers and those seeking to change industries can apply from today to access fee-free TAFE courses in areas of high workforce demand in South Australia.
There are 10,500 places available for South Australians to take their place at TAFE SA.
Areas of study include:
Also included in the Fee-Free TAFE course list are foundation courses designed to help students overcome barriers to training and employment, including Vocational Preparation for Women and English Proficiency qualifications.
TAFE SA CEO David Coltman said “We are delighted that the Fee-Free TAFE course list is being announced today, and thrilled that South Australia is leading the country in launching this Federal and State Government initiative for 2023.
“Fee-Free TAFE removes the fees for students undertaking much needed skills training. If you have ever thought about undertaking study at TAFE SA now is the time to apply.
“In addition to the recent investment we have seen in TAFE SA course development, investment in our campuses and facilities, investment in our staff and their development, this initiative is now a much appreciated direct investment in students.
“The Fee-Free TAFE places will help us get more people trained and into the workforce and we are excited about what this initiative means for the state,” Coltman continued.
Minister for Education, Training and Skills Blair Boyer said “Free TAFE will play a key role in addressing the skills shortages we face and open doors for South Australians who otherwise would be unable to afford training.
“The courses offered through Free TAFE align directly with areas where we need thousands more workers – as we rebuild our health system, prepare for universal three-year-old preschool, build the infrastructure our state needs, and support more major events coming to South Australia.
“The Malinauskas Labor Government is proud to be working with the Commonwealth to deliver Fee-Free TAFE – and we are leading the nation as one of the first to sign on to the interim National Skills Agreement.
“I encourage any South Australians looking for a rewarding career or a career change to visit their local TAFE or go online and apply to take their place in Free TAFE.
“I look forward to releasing the list of courses other training providers will offer soon – with an extra 2,000 places to be available,” Boyer continued.
An additional 2,000 places will be delivered by other training providers, such as not-for-profit training providers. The courses that will be offered by these providers will be released soon.
