Because Udemy made a loss in the last twelve months, we think the market is probably more focussed on revenue and revenue growth, at least for now. When a company doesn’t make profits, we’d generally expect to see good revenue growth. As you can imagine, fast revenue growth, when maintained, often leads to fast profit growth.
In the last year Udemy saw its revenue grow by 22%. That’s definitely a respectable growth rate. Unfortunately that wasn’t good enough to stop the share price dropping 50%. You might even wonder if the share price was previously over-hyped. However, that’s in the past now, and it’s the future that matters most.

Udemy shareholders are down 50% for the year, even worse than the market loss of 20%. That’s disappointing, but it’s worth keeping in mind that the market-wide selling wouldn’t have helped. MADRID (Reuters) -Two top Spanish bankers on Tuesday said Spain's mortgage relief plan could lead to an increase in bad debt provisions and weigh on banks' capital reserves. The Spanish government and the country's banks on Monday reached an agreement in principle on mortgage relief measures, such as extending loan repayments, for more than 1 million vulnerable households and on help for middle-class families. "Some of the measures have an impact on the provisions, as it cannot be otherwise, as soon as an extension (is agreed) there are always elements that have an impact on the provisions," Santander CEO Jose Antonio Alvarez told reporters on the sidelines of a financial event.

Nearly one in five people in Germany have had to draw on their savings to cover everyday costs as rising inflation cuts into their purchasing power, a survey by the Kantar polling institute published on Tuesday found. According to the survey of 2,000 people, 19.4% of respondents said they were using their savings to get by. German industrial production is on track to rise slightly this year thanks to order backlogs but the outlook for 2023 is gloomy as high energy prices and geopolitical uncertainties hurt businesses, the BDI industry association said on Tuesday. The BDI said it expected a slight increase in production of around 0.25% this year, after 4.7% in 2021. From January to September this year, energy-intensive sectors cut production, which fell by 2.3% at metal-producing and metal-processing companies, by 3.7% at manufacturers of rubber and plastic goods and by 8.2% in the chemical industry, the BDI said.
