LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville and UofL Health are teaming up to provide free hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation, also known as CPR. The partnership is in collaboration with the American Heart Association.
The partnership will be available for UofL staff, faculty, students and the public. There will be 30-minute sessions both on Sept. 7 and Nov. 2 between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Dr. Douglas Craddock Jr. serves as UofL’s interim vice president for community engagement. He wants to remind people how crucial CPR can be in dire medical circumstances.
“We know the importance of CPR and needs when some may lose breathing or when somebody needs that medical contact in that time of need. So that allows our staff, our faculty and our students to learn and when the emergency comes, they’ll be prepared to perform CPR,” said Craddock.
These sessions are great for students, faculty and staff who just need a refresher or community members that want to be more medically aware, Craddock said.
The free hands-only CPR training classes will be available at the Kosair Charities Clinical and Translational Research Building. It’s located at 505 South Hancock St. in Louisville.
UofL Health is instructing anyone interested in the free classes to click here for the Sept. 7 session or here for the Nov. 2 session for registration.
