VSCS Launches Free Classes and Training for Vermonters – castleton.edu

Vermonters whose employment has been impacted by COVID-19 can access free classes and training opportunities this fall and during the spring 2022 semester at Castleton University, Community College of Vermont, Northern Vermont University, and Vermont Technical College. This program has been made possible due to $3 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) from the Vermont Legislature.
The Workforce Training Initiative allows eligible Vermonters whose employability or employer has been impacted by COVID-19 to take up to two free courses with the goal of upskilling affected individuals in their current industry or reskill individuals who desire a change in their career path for more economic stability. This includes Vermonters who have been laid off, furloughed, had their hours cut, or been employed in an industry that has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additional funding will be available for individuals who participate in the program that can be utilized to cover the cost of school supplies and equipment, transportation, childcare, and more.
More than 300 classes and trainings are available at Castleton across high-demand fields such as healthcare, business, and early childhood education. Examples of courses include:
