PSL 2022: Pakistan Super League (PSL) is gaining a lot of attraction throughout the globe. The competition went on to also reach its record viewership recently.
The previous season was very hard for the Pakistan cricket board and the players as well. It was decided that the season will take place in Pakistan as usual in uncertain times. But the county was witnessing a terrible time due to the second wave of Coronavirus.
However, the money-minded Pakistan cricket Board still went ahead with hosting the dubious league. They brought in all the players under their so-called foolproof biosecure bubble. PCB boasted about their bio bubble system and its safety for the players.
But all the big talk PCB officials went on to expose themselves. The so-called biosecure bubble was breached and a COVID-19 case was found. Moreover, this was primarily due to corruption and incompetency.
Certain Pakistani players were seen breaching the biosecure bubble. While others did not even think of the possible reputations. As a result of that, PCB had to withdraw from the Pakistan Super League tournament.
It was a terrible time for the PCB officials and other irresponsible players. They were given proper treatment by the Pakistan government who were unhappy due to the PR loss to the league.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) went on to draft a new rule in their rule book from this season. All the franchises will now have to pay half of the annual fee two months before the start of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
This was a controversial decision that was protested by the majority of the PSL franchises. But Pakistan Cricket Board anyway went on to adopt the resolution like an authoritarian regime.
However, no franchises have gone on to pay the amount to the Pakistan cricket board. This is despite the PSL tournament will begin next month. The PSL will begin in January end.
According to some reports, the PCB has gone frustrated with all the PSL franchises and their behaviour. They also went on to send a notice remainder for the payment of annual fees before the start of PSL.
Even PSL franchises are demanding the remaining amount to be paid from the PCB. According to the owners, PCB owes them a certain amount while the PCB is denying any dues.
The whole situation is, unfortunately, escalating between the PSL franchises and the Pakistan Cricket Board. And if things are like this for another more days then this would not be good for the PSL tournament as a whole and its future too. It is to be seen how Imran Khan and Ramiz Raja sort this issue out.
