Facebook is expanding its collaboration with Coursera to launch two new courses to support more job seekers.
Following the success of previous efforts in Social Media Marketing certification courses, Facebook has learned it can support job seekers and help them develop transferable and technical skills they need to get hired.
In light of this, Facebook is looking to expand support for diverse job seekers with the announcement of two more career certificates in collaboration with Coursera: Marketing Analytics and Software Development.
Users can pre-enroll in the Marketing Analytics certificate by filling in a request form.
The courses will be self-paced and available for completion in 20 weeks, teaching foundational skills on a project basis, and providing instructor-led learning. Users that complete the program will get accredited with a certification, and enjoy exclusive access to the Facebook Certification Careers Network, a new job search platform where graduates can connect with over 60 top employers through Facebook’s Hiring Consortium.
Employers in the consortium include top companies like BBDO, dentsu, GroupM, Havas Media, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health, Reprise Digital, Vayner Media, Facebook, and many more.
In addition to the courses, the accreditation, and access to the hiring club, Facebook is also giving away 100,000 scholarships to Facebook Certification to Black learners and 3,000 scholarships to COVID-19 displaced agency professionals globally.
Apart from this, Facebook is also providing scholarships for certifications to non-profits serving Latinx, Indigenous learners, refugees, reentering citizens, underserved schools, veterans and military families, and socio-economically disadvantaged groups globally.
The diversity program is made possible with the help of and partnership with over 70 organizations and nonprofits that support Black, LatinX, and Indigenous learners.

Finally, Facebook says it wants to reimagine its own recruiting process in a new world economy where, in many cases, a university degree isn’t the only path to gaining knowledge and experience. To support more access to opportunities, the company is considering reducing the number and types of roles for which a university degree is a minimum requirement for its own job positions.
The fact that big tech companies like Facebook are increasingly creating cost-free, online, and certified courses – together with a change in policy affecting minimum educational entry requirements – is beginning to shape a new job market where people from diverse communities can have equal opportunities to develop skills and be hired.
