IIT Madras announces problem-solving maths course – Analytics India Magazine

IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, the technology innovation hub in IIT Madras, has announced a logical thinking course called ‘Out of the Box Thinking Through Mathematics.’ The course has been divided into four separate levels, with each level containing a different approach to problem-solving in a holistic way. Registrations will be open until June 24 to everyone, starting from students to researchers and professionals.

The program aims to teach mathematics in a way that helps the students think in a broad manner and come up with multiple solutions to a range of problems. The course will allow students to discover the applications of mathematics in different fields like biology, anthropology and astronomy. The four levels of the program will be completed over ten weeks per level, with a total of 20 hours of pre-recorded video sessions.

According to the IITM Pravartak website, the course will be taught by Shri Sadagopan Rajesh, the founding director of Aryabhatta Institute of Mathematical Sciences, since 1997. The online courses will be free with the exception of the final exam, which will charge a nominal fee. The final exam will be held at selected centres across cities in the country, based on which IITM Pravartak will issue graded certificates to applicants. 
IITM Pravartak is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, as a part of its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems. Registration for the course is open now, and the course begins on July 01.
