PSL 2022: A fire broke out inside Karachi National Stadium only a few days before the first match of the 2022 season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was set to take place there on Tuesday (January 25).
According to reports, the blaze broke out within the stadium’s makeshift commentary box. Then it spread throughout the building. As part of an effort to establish a biosecure cocoon for commentators and broadcasters, the commentary box on the third floor of the National Stadium has been relocated to the ground level.
The Karachi Kings play their home games at the National Stadium. The first 15 games of the Pakistan Super League 2022 will kickstart on Thursday in Karachi (January 27). In the opening match of the tournament at the National Stadium, Karachi Kings will lock horns against Multan Sultans.
A representative for the PCB stated that a fire department truck and employees had been stationed at the stadium to cope with any emergencies that may arise in the future. Following reports from Cricket Pakistan, the fire was triggered by a short circuit in the power line.
“A PCB official confirmed that a fire brigade truck and staff had been stationed at the stadium to cope with any emergencies that may arise in the future,” according to a report on the Cricket Pakistan website.

The Pakistan Super League is likely to have more secure bio-bubbles this season. Also, Karachi will only allow 25 percent of the audience as a preventative measure, according to reports. The remainder of the games, including the championship game, will be held in Lahore.
Meanwhile, two previous champions will meet in the first game of the Pakistan Super League. While Multan Sultans are the reigning champions, Karachi Kings won the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the fifth season.
Players from England, including Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Saqib Mahmood, Chris Jordan, and Will Smeed, will be taking part in the competition as well.
Karachi Kings made it to the playoffs but were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Peshawar Zalmi. Imad Wasim has been relieved of his duties as team captain by Babar Azam. He would want to bat at the top of the order with Sharjeel Khan. Both players will be under pressure to get off to a strong start at the top of the order.
M Nabi, Tom Abell, and Lewis Gregory are three all-rounders in whom the franchise has placed a significant amount of trust. The three will seek to contribute with both bat and ball. They should be able to keep the squad in excellent shape going forward. Joe Clarke has been in excellent form lately. He will be a player to keep an eye on during the competition.
Before the commencement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Thursday, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi tested positive for the virus COVID-19.
Afridi will play for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League in what will be his last season. However, the all-rounder is expected to miss the opening few games of the season after testing positive for COVID-19.
