With its beautiful beaches and laid-back tropical vibe, the Dominican Republic has been a favorite locale for travelers for a long time. The Caribbean destination just set an all-time record for visitors when it broke the 600,000 tourist mark in a single month. Now that the island nation has lifted COVID-19 entry restrictions, another record could be in sight.
If you’re thinking of booking a trip to the islands, there is a big sale now on nonstop flights from Newark and New York City to Punta Cana, Santiago, and Santo Domingo. You can also find great deals on flights with a layover from cities like Boston and Nashville. Most of these fare sales are for economy tickets. Prices for checked luggage vary among the airlines so double-check before you book.
The best availability is for travel in May and June, and from August through March 2023. The back half of December has limited availability. Also, keep in mind that it’s hurricane season through November, so the trade-off for the lighter crowds may be some unpredictable weather.

Nonstop flights from New York City’s Kennedy Airport (JFK) to Punta Cana (PUJ) and its world-class golf courses can be booked in late September for just $308 round-trip. It’s a JetBlue Blue Basic fare, which means no full-size carry-on, but that’s still a nice price.
If Newark Liberty Airport (EWR) is a more convenient departure point for you, you can find nonstop flights to Punta Cana at the same $308 price. Again, it’s JetBlue’s most restrictive fare, so keep that in mind with regards to your luggage.
We’re featuring mostly nonstop itineraries in this deal, but here’s one fare with a layover that’s too good not to spotlight.
You can book a trip to Punta Cana from Nashville (BNA) in mid-March 2023 on American for only $292 round-trip. You have a quick layover in Miami, but that price is dirt cheap. And it comes with a free carry-on bag, too.
NYC to Santiago (STI) nonstop on Delta for an early November vacation can be booked for $330 round-trip. This fare comes with a free carry-on.

NYC (JFK) to Santo Domingo (SDO) in early June is the perfect way to start your summer. JetBlue has nonstop fares for just $335, a nice discount from normal prices.
Another East Coast city with lots of availability to the Dominican Republic is Boston. You can from Logan Airport (BOS) to Santo Domingo in February for $350 round-trip on American. It has a brief layover, but I bet the chance to exchange the frigid Februaries of New England for a beach in the Caribbean will make it worth it.
